Website redesign for a local furniture institution in Peterborough & the Kawarthas
Twohey Home (formerly “Twohey’s Furniture & Sleep Centre”) is a family-owned and operated furniture and mattress supplier headquartered in Peterborough, Ontario, and serving the Kawarthas region since 1959. Over the decades the “Twohey” name has become synonymous in the Peterborough/Kawarthas area with quality furniture, trusted service, and a destination showroom experience.
The client approached us with a key objective: to transform an outdated and high-maintenance website into a modern, lean digital presence that drives foot traffic to the showroom (rather than trying to replicate full e-commerce), and empowers the client with tools they can maintain themselves.
Problem & Strategic Objectives
Client Needs
The existing website was expensive to maintain and relied heavily on third-party provider support for even minor updates, putting operational strain on the Twoheys team.
The site did not effectively showcase the Twoheys brand’s legacy or the breadth of its furniture collection in a way that reflects the quality reputation the local market associates with Twoheys.
The client’s goal was not primarily to sell online, but to drive showroom visits. The website needed to support that objective, guiding visitors from digital to physical experience.
The client needed to be able to make minor updates (photos, text) themselves, reducing reliance on external vendors and lowering ongoing costs.

Refresh the digital presence to reflect the heritage and premium positioning of Twohey Home in the Peterborough & Kawarthas market.
Develop a website architecture and design that emphasises visuals of furniture “in-situation” (rooms, home/cottage settings) to connect the showroom experience with the online browse.
Reduce maintenance costs and third-party dependencies by migrating to a platform the client can manage themselves and training their team.
Strengthen the path from “browse online” → “visit showroom” by providing clear calls to action, showroom location/maps, and compelling imagery.
Reinforce the Twoheys brand’s identity as the local destination for quality furniture in Peterborough & the Kawarthas.

Given the highly local heritage of Twohey Home, we leaned into the brand’s longstanding reputation in the Peterborough & Kawarthas region.
The visual strategy prioritized large, high-quality imagery of furniture in real home or cottage settings, allowing visitors to picture themselves in those spaces and reinforcing the “quality furniture” promise. The narrative emphasised: “Twohey is your home & cottage style destination” (as referenced in the website display).
Website Architecture & User Journey
We mapped a streamlined user flow:
Entry (Home Page): immediately showcase the Twohey story, legacy, and high-end furniture visuals.
Gallery / Collection Browsing: easy visually-rich gallery to browse styles, rooms, home + cottage furniture.
Showroom Visit Prompt: navigation and content lead the visitor toward “Visit Us”, showroom map/location, contact info.
Client Empowerment: backend setup such that the Twohey team can update images, text content themselves without external fees.
